Privacy Policy

Rankd ("we", "our", "us") respects your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect, why, and how we protect it.

What We Collect

• Account info: Email, display name, username (when you sign up). If you use Apple or Google Sign-In, we receive your name and email from those providers.
• Rankings: The movies and TV shows you rank, your positions, watch tags, and comparison history.
• Social: Your friend connections and activity visible to friends.
• Device info: Push notification tokens (to send you notifications). We do not collect device IDs or advertising identifiers.
• Analytics: Anonymous usage events (screens viewed, features used) via PostHog. No personally identifiable information is sent to analytics.

What We Don't Collect

• Your location (unless you opt in for city leaderboards in a future update)
• Your contacts or phone number
• Your browsing history outside the app
• Advertising identifiers

How We Use Your Data

• To sync your rankings across devices
• To show your friends what you're ranking (only to accepted friends)
• To calculate community leaderboards (aggregated, anonymous)
• To send push notifications you've opted into
• To improve the app based on anonymous usage patterns

Data Storage

Your data is stored on servers in the United States (Neon Postgres on AWS us-east-1). Passwords are hashed with bcrypt. API tokens are encrypted. All connections use HTTPS/TLS.

Third-Party Services

• TMDB: Movie and TV show data. We don't send your personal data to TMDB.
• Apple / Google: Authentication only. We receive your name and email, nothing more.
• Stripe: Web payment processing. We never see or store your credit card number.
• PostHog: Anonymous analytics. No PII is sent.
• Sentry: Crash reporting. May include device type and OS version, never personal data.

Your Rights

• Access: You can view all your data in the app (Profile → Settings).
• Delete: Email us at privacy@getrankd.com to delete your account and all data. We'll do it within 30 days.
• Export: Pro users can export their rankings as CSV.
• Opt out: You can disable push notifications in your device settings and opt out of analytics in the app.

Children

Rankd is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

Changes

We may update this policy. If we make significant changes, we'll notify you in the app.
